The final moments of Loki season 2 might have perfectly set up some major storylines for Marvel Studios’ upcoming Deadpool 3 and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Released as part of Phase 5 of the MCU, Loki season 2 caught up with Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief in the wake of He Who Remains’ death, the Sacred Timeline’s destruction, and the creation of the MCU’s multiverse. While it was initially believed that fixing the Time Variance Authority’s Temporal Loom would stabilize the new multiverse, Loki realized he needed to embark on a new mission to mend the devastation, which paves the road for some massive multiversal events in the MCU’s future.

After learning that expanding the range of the Temporal Loom was a useless endeavor, Loki instead decided to take matters into his own hands in Loki season 2’s finale. By gathering up the branching timelines of the multiverse and bringing them together to form Yggdrasil, the tree of the worlds in Norse mythology, Loki not only became the most powerful being in the MCU, but also set the stage for the TVA to have a much more ethical purpose. Instead of pruning timelines, the TVA has now been transformed into an organization to protect the multiverse’s infinite realities, which hints at the TVA’s major involvement in several upcoming MCU projects.
